Academic Excellence Recognized

Our Horizon Leadership Academy (Kindergarten to Grade 9) consistently delivers academic excellence. We are honored to be recognized as the "Best Islamic School in Alberta". This year, we've climbed dramatically in the Fraser Institute rankings, moving from 75th out of 848 schools in 2024 to an outstanding 50th out of 729 schools across Alberta. This remarkable progress reflects our commitment to integrating the rigorous Alberta Education curriculum with essential Arabic, Islamic Social Studies, Quran, and leadership studies.

Best Weekend & After School Program in North America

Beyond our full-time academy, our acclaimed weekend and after-school programs continue to thrive. These include popular Quran Tahfeez programs, Youth Leadership, High School Arabic credit courses, and Adult Arabic classes. These programs currently serve 200 students, complementing the 232 enrolled in our full-time academy.

Nurturing Value-Driven Leaders through "Do Good Ranking

Our mission extends beyond the classroom to cultivate leaders who actively contribute to society. Our unique "Do Good Ranking" initiatives inspire students to look beyond academic achievements and engage in meaningful community service. A recent parent council initiative successfully raised $8,915 – exceeding its $6,000 target – to sponsor 15 children in Gaza for one year. This demonstrates our dedication to building leaders who foster pluralism, contribution, individual well-being, and societal creativity within an alternative worldview based on Islamic principles and values.

Elevating Academic Ranking

We aim to further improve our Horizon Leadership Academy's ranking to the top 5% provincially.

Expanding Our Full-Time School

To accommodate our growing student body and a waiting list of 60 students (25%), we plan to add one new classroom per grade over the next six years.

Strategic Planning

We are developing a comprehensive Strategic Plan for 2025-2030 to ensure sustained progress and invite community participation in shaping our exciting future.

How You Can Support Us

To continue fostering this environment of excellence and expand our reach, we need your invaluable support. Your contributions directly impact our students’ ability to succeed intellectually, emotionally, and socially.

We are seeking support for critical initiatives:

Bursaries

Help us ensure access for all deserving students by providing 100 bursaries at $2,100 per student, totaling $210,000.

Curriculum Development

Support our $200,000 project to further enhance our unique Transformational Learning Program, strengthening our faith-based foundation and leadership model (with $100,000 already committed).

Classroom Expansion

To accommodate our growth, we need to build six new portable classrooms over the next six years, with each classroom costing $450,000.

◦ Donors of $1,000 or more will receive a name plaque.

◦ Those contributing $450,000 will have a classroom named after them.

Our immediate goal is to raise $100,000 to kickstart these vital projects. Scholars have confirmed that Zakat is payable to organizations like ours, which exist to serve and educate members of the Muslim community.
